Jim Field Smith keeps the vibe bright and offbeat even when the comedy turns sharp, and the cast leans into the outrageousness with conviction, especially Jennifer Garner’s deliciously competitive social climber and Yara Shahidi’s quietly magnetic underdog. The movie’s funniest trick is how it treats this dairy-world rivalry with the intensity of a prestige sports drama, letting the jokes land while still finding flickers of real feeling underneath. It’s definitely not for everyone—there’s raunch, profanity, and boundary-pushing humor—but if you like your comedies a little twisted and proudly original, this one is a surprisingly satisfying slice of Americana.

If you’re sensitive to comedies that use a child character as the moral center while the adults behave cartoonishly awful around her, this may feel more uncomfortable than funny. That said, the cast commits, and there are occasional flashes of genuine sweetness and absurdity—just don’t expect subtle satire or consistent tone.
