The Child’s Eye is clearly aiming for a claustrophobic, haunted-hotel nightmare with glossy visuals and a slow drip of mystery, and you can see the Pang Brothers trying to build dread through atmosphere. The problem is the story feels messy and oddly uneventful, with thin character work that makes it hard to care who gets out and why. When the scares arrive, they tend to be predictable, and the mythology gets confusing rather than intriguing, like the film is leaning on style to cover gaps in the script.
