Curious George: Go West, Go Wild (2020)
While farm-sitting, George accidentally lets the farm animals escape. Ted, George and wannabe cowboy Emmett must round 'em up, accounting for every animal -- and emerging with some new skills, to boot.
What people think about Curious George: Go West, Go Wild
Curious George: Go West, Go Wild captures what makes George enduring: that irresistible mix of innocent curiosity and gentle chaos, wrapped in a warm, easygoing Western-flavored adventure. The movie’s charm comes from watching a simple day of farm-sitting turn into a playful, low-stakes “roundup,” where teamwork and patience matter as much as laughs, and even Ted gets nudged out of his comfort zone. Bright, friendly animation and lively voice work keep it buoyant, with a tone that feels like a cozy Saturday-morning story stretched to just the right length. It’s not aiming for high drama or snarky humor, but if you want a sweet, wholesome family watch that leaves everyone feeling a little kinder, this one earns the saddle.
Curious George: Go West, Go Wild is clearly aiming for a gentle, low-stakes “kids’ first western” adventure, with simple lessons about responsibility and teamwork and the usual George-driven chaos. The problem is it plays things extremely safe: the plot is basically one long animal roundup, and if you’re hoping for clever twists, big laughs, or much character depth beyond “George makes a mess, everyone fixes it,” you may find it repetitive. The animation and pacing feel very TV-movie, and Emmett’s cowboy shtick can wear thin if you’re not already in the target age range. That said, it’s harmless, upbeat, and easy to sit through, so it works best for preschoolers and Curious George completists, not adults looking for something genuinely entertaining on its own.
