Sing a Bit of Harmony is the kind of rare animated sci-fi that sneaks up on you: it arrives with bright pop musical energy and a delightfully oddball AI heroine, then quietly earns real emotion without ever feeling manipulative. Director Yasuhiro Yoshiura builds a near-future world that feels lived-in and plausible, but the movie’s real magic is in how Shion’s off-kilter sincerity—princess gowns, sudden songs, and all—pulls a lonely girl and her classmates into a warmer orbit. It’s funny and buoyant on the surface, yet there’s a tender ache underneath about what it means to “save” a moment, a person, a connection, when technology treats everything as data. If you don’t like musicals or prefer your sci-fi hard-edged, it may not be your vibe, but if you’re open to a heartfelt, original crowd-pleaser, this one sings.

Sing a Bit of Harmony is clearly aiming for a sweet, near-future coming-of-age story where an outsider AI uses music to pull a lonely girl into real friendship, and when it works, it’s genuinely charming. The problem is that the film’s cute musical whimsy and its heavier sci‑fi ideas don’t always mesh cleanly, and the second half can feel like it’s rushing past logic and leaving interesting plot threads a bit undercooked.
