Paul Feig leans into a breezy, joke-forward vibe where the action and fantasy spectacle are really just the delivery system for Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy’s warm, bickering camaraderie and, especially, Kate McKinnon’s wonderfully weird, scene-stealing genius as the team’s mad-scientist wildcard. The movie’s Manhattan is a candy-coated haunted house—slimy, spooky, and kinetic—more about giddy fun than genuine scares, with enough big set pieces to feel like a proper summer ride. If you prefer your Ghostbusters drier or more deadpan, the broader, improv-heavy humor may not be your flavor, but if you want an upbeat, high-energy comedy with great chemistry and a playful supernatural kick, it’s an easy good time.
