What people think about 2 Guns
2 Guns is the kind of slick, crowd-pleasing action comedy that works because it knows its greatest special effect is chemistry, and Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg have it in abundance. The movie snaps along on a fuse of wisecracks, swagger, and sudden bursts of old-school firepower, letting the humor breathe without ever deflating the tension. Baltasar Kormákur keeps the vibe punchy and pulpy—sun-baked crime scenes, shifting loyalties, and that satisfying rhythm of two pros improvising their way through trouble. It’s not for viewers allergic to R-rated roughness (violence, harsh language, and a bit of nudity), but if you want charismatic stars trading barbs between shootouts, this one hits the sweet spot.
2 Guns wants to be a slick, rowdy buddy-cop riff where two guys who can’t trust anyone (including each other) shoot their way through a maze of double-crosses and come out smirking. It mostly works on the strength of Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg’s chemistry—when it’s just them trading barbs, the movie has real energy. The problem is everything around them feels loud, familiar, and increasingly tangled, with a cynically violent streak that clashes with the “just having fun” tone and makes the gunplay feel less like escapism and more like noise. If you’re here for a breezy action-comedy, the R-rated brutality, crude humor, and been-there plotting may wear you down; if you just want two charismatic stars bouncing off each other in a disposable ride, it’ll do the job.
