The Commando (2022)

What makes it pop is the bruised edge underneath the bravado—an elite agent trying to hold his family together while his mind keeps dragging him back to a catastrophic mission, giving the movie a tense, slightly feverish vibe instead of just another shootout reel. Mickey Rourke and Jeff Fahey add a grimy, seen-it-all texture around the margins, and the R-rated violence lands with impact rather than cartoon gloss. It’s not for viewers looking for a clean, feel-good ride or a deeply intricate plot, but if you want a tight, brutal, protect-the-family thriller with a hard-bodied lead who can really sell a fight, it delivers.
