Drishyam 2 is the rare sequel that doesn’t just revive old suspense—it deepens it, tightening the screws with patient, intelligent storytelling that makes every ordinary moment feel like it might snap. Jeethu Joseph directs with the confidence of a master craftsman, letting dread build quietly until the film is practically humming with tension, and then rewarding your attention with twists that feel earned rather than gimmicky. Mohanlal is riveting as Georgekutty, playing him not as a superhero but as a weary, watchful man whose love for his family becomes its own kind of strategy. It’s a measured, dialogue-driven thriller more interested in psychological pressure than action, so if you want constant chase scenes you may find it slow—but if you like being outsmarted by a film, this one is tremendously satisfying.

Drishyam 2 is clearly trying to be a smart, slow-burn follow-up that shows how one lie keeps poisoning a family’s life while the police close in again. When it works, it’s still gripping thanks to Mohanlal’s controlled, watchful performance and a few genuinely tense stretches. But be warned: it leans heavily on your attachment to the first film, and the pacing can feel uneven, with some plot turns landing more like clever mechanics than gut-punch storytelling. If you want the same lightning-in-a-bottle shock and tight momentum of Drishyam (2013), this may feel more like a competent extension than an essential sequel; if you enjoy methodical cat-and-mouse thrillers with minimal gore and a procedural vibe, it’s more likely to click.
