Bound to Vengeance earns its keep by refusing to be just another grim captivity thriller; it’s a lean, scrappy indie that keeps twisting the familiar revenge setup into something sharper and more unpredictable. The real hook is Tina Ivlev, who gives Eve a raw, stubborn intelligence that makes every decision feel earned, not scripted, and that performance pulls you through the film’s rough edges with white-knuckle momentum. The vibe is tense and mean in the best thriller way—claustrophobic, propulsive, and darkly satisfying when it decides to flip the power dynamic. It won’t be for everyone if you’re sensitive to abduction-themed horror or want glossy polish, but if you’re on the fence and craving a nasty little genre subversion with a committed lead, it’s an easy watch to root for.

Bound to Vengeance wants to be a gritty, cathartic revenge thriller about a survivor taking control, and on paper that’s a solid hook. The problem is it leans so hard into contrivances and logic gaps that the tension keeps leaking out, making key turns feel more like the script forcing outcomes than a believable escalation. The pacing doesn’t help either: it drags in stretches, so even at a modest runtime it can feel oddly long and repetitive, and the themes it gestures at never quite land with clarity. If you can enjoy a rough-around-the-edges, pulpy chase-and-payback movie and don’t mind switching your brain off, there are a few satisfying moments—but if you need tight plotting and grounded stakes, this probably isn’t for you.
