Bitch Slap (2009)

Rick Jacobson keeps the pace snappy and the tone wickedly comic, while Julia Voth, Erin Cummings, and America Olivo commit to their roles with the kind of swagger that makes the film’s pulp attitude feel like a feature, not an accident. If you’re in the mood for twisty double-cross energy, stylized violence, and a heavy dose of sleaze-as-aesthetic, it delivers the goods with an unapologetic wink. It’s absolutely not for viewers who dislike explicit sex, harsh language, or brutal exploitation-movie excess—but if you can meet it on its own mischievous terms, it’s a raucous midnight-movie ride.

Bitch Slap is trying to be a cheeky, hyper-stylized throwback to grindhouse sexploitation—loud, pulpy, and knowingly ridiculous, with three femme-fatale archetypes double-crossing their way through a desert caper. The problem is the writing and structure feel more messy than clever, leaning on flashbacks, contrived twists, and “wink-wink” humor that often lands with a thud. It also puts sexualized imagery and choreographed catfights front and center, so if you’re not specifically in the mood for campy male-gaze sleaze, it’ll feel less like satire and more like a tired gimmick.
