ExTerminators (2009)
Three women from a rage-therapy group band together to dole out justice to the men who wronged them.
What people think about ExTerminators
ExTerminators is the kind of dark comedy that feels like a pressure valve finally hissing open—sharp, strange, and unexpectedly cathartic, with three women who don’t so much “bond” as collide and spark. It takes a grimy, off-kilter look at anger and survival, then turns it into something mischievously funny, powered by terrific chemistry and a rebellious sense of sisterhood that never feels sentimental. The vibe is scrappy and a little unhinged, the kind of movie that laughs with its characters even when they’re making questionable choices, and its originality comes less from shock value than from how committed it is to their warped logic. It won’t be for everyone—if you don’t like your comedy pitch-black and your payback morally messy, you may bristle—but if you’re on the fence, this is an entertaining, defiantly oddball slice of solidarity that sticks with you.
ExTerminators is clearly aiming for a cathartic, darkly comic “women snap back” story, using therapy-group bonding and revenge fantasies as its engine. The problem is the execution: the script feels thin and predictable, the direction is sloppy, and the humor often lands with a thud instead of a bite. It also leans so hard into cartoonishly awful men that the satire can start to feel one-note and unconvincing rather than sharp. If you’re looking for genuinely dark laughs or smart social commentary, this may waste your time, but if you’re in the mood for a low-stakes, messy empowerment romp with a few spirited performances, you might tolerate it.
