Chris Pine makes Ryan more than a suit with a gun—smart, anxious, and capable in a way that sells the character’s transformation—while Kevin Costner brings steady gravitas and Kenneth Branagh directs with taut, old-school efficiency (and a villain’s presence you can feel). The vibe is tense and propulsive rather than bombastic, mixing boardroom paranoia with sudden, close-quarters danger that keeps your pulse up. It’s not a deep-dive character epic, and the violence can get intense, but if you want a brisk, well-cast thriller that plays like a smart Saturday-night movie with real suspense, this one delivers.
