Ruth Wilson and Andrew Scott are terrific as the Norwegian couple quietly moving mountains, while Salim Daw brings a grounded humanity that keeps the politics from becoming abstraction. It’s not for viewers who need action or sweeping spectacle, but if you’re drawn to smart, empathetic storytelling and performances that make history feel urgently alive, this is a gripping watch.

The problem is it often plays like filmed theatre: lots of talk, limited visual energy, and a rhythm that can feel stagey rather than cinematic, so if you’re expecting a sweeping historical drama you’ll likely be bored. It also takes a notably Western, mediator-centered view of the conflict that some will find simplified or naïve, which can make the “inspiring true story” angle feel a bit too tidy for such a brutal reality.
