Anders Thomas Jensen juggles action, comedy, and aching humanity with a sure hand, and Mads Mikkelsen gives Markus a bruised, magnetic presence that makes even his worst impulses feel painfully recognizable. The vibe is deadpan and sharp-edged—violence and profanity land hard—but it’s also laced with warmth as an oddball group of misfits becomes, almost despite themselves, a lifeline for a father and daughter.
