Vikramaditya Motwane keeps the tone wickedly funny even as the tension tightens, and the meta setup isn’t just a gimmick; it’s the engine that makes every confrontation crackle with urgency. Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap, playing sharp-edged versions of themselves, commit so fully that you’ll forget you’re watching a satire and start feeling the panic, the pride, and the desperation underneath. If you don’t enjoy self-referential stories or handheld immediacy it may not be your flavor, but if you want something original that’s both a chase movie and a clever roast of stardom, this one is a blast.

AK vs AK is clearly trying to be a slick, real-time, meta thriller that blurs the line between movie-making and mayhem, and for a while it’s genuinely tense and inventive. The problem is that the film’s self-aware “industry inside joke” energy can start to feel a bit smug, and the pacing/editing sometimes undercut the momentum it’s working so hard to build.
