Watching this pack of chatty, determined pups chase a moon-sized dream is breezy, colorful fun, with a gentle sci-fi vibe and an easygoing sense of comedy that keeps things light and friendly. The movie’s real lift comes from its teamwork spirit—everyone has a role, everyone gets a moment, and the message lands without feeling heavy. It is undeniably formulaic and very much made for younger kids, but if you’re in the mood for a wholesome, animal-loving crowd-pleaser, it’s an easy launch.

Space Buddies is clearly aiming for a harmless, kid-friendly “dogs in space” adventure that leans hard into simple lessons about teamwork and bravery. The problem is it feels like a checklist sequel: predictable beats, thin jokes, and a made-for-TV cheapness that’s hard to ignore, especially in the effects and the overall polish. Adults and older kids will likely find it dull and oddly artificial, with characters and gags that play more like stereotypes than clever comedy. If you’ve got very young children who just want talking puppies, bright colors, and low-stakes adventure, it’ll do the job; if you’re hoping for genuinely funny family sci-fi, you’re probably wasting your time.
