The film’s greatest pleasure is how it sustains tension through atmosphere and detail—every decision feels weighty—while Ajay Devgn brings cool authority to the pilot at the center and Amitabh Bachchan arrives with the kind of commanding presence that sharpens every scene he’s in. It’s sleekly directed, technically impressive, and built to be experienced with the volume up, letting the drama and mystery tighten around you without cheap tricks. If you prefer your thrillers subtle and character-first over melodramatic flourishes, you may find it more “cinematic ride” than intimate study, but as an edge-of-your-seat aviation drama, it’s a standout.

Runway 34 is clearly aiming for a tense, “what really happened in the cockpit?” thriller that mixes high-stakes aviation drama with an investigation into accountability. The problem is that once the initial suspense fades, the film settles into a slower, talk-heavy stretch that can feel more like a routine courtroom debate than the imaginative mystery it promises. If you’re picky about realism or tired of stories that feel borrowed from Hollywood beats, the contrivances and familiar turns may pull you right out of it. Still, if you enjoy earnest performances, procedural back-and-forth, and don’t mind a flatter second half as the price for a solid setup, you might find it watchable enough.
