Enforcement is the kind of lean, nervy action-thriller that grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go, turning a routine patrol into a pressure-cooker descent through fear, anger, and survival. Frederik Louis Hviid and Anders Ølholm stage the chaos with a crisp, street-level immediacy, letting the tension build not through flashy spectacle but through smart, escalating choices that feel frighteningly plausible. Jacob Lohmann and Simon Sears make the central duo compelling to watch even when you don’t always like what they do, grounding the film’s relentless momentum in human panic and stubborn resolve. It’s not a nuanced character study and it doesn’t pretend to be—if you want a socially aware, pulse-pounding ride that keeps tightening the screws, this one earns its bruises.

Enforcement is clearly aiming for a tense, boots-on-the-ground thriller about two cops trapped in a neighborhood that’s boiling over, and on a moment-to-moment level it often delivers raw urgency and claustrophobic pressure. The problem is the writing tends to push people into boxes rather than fully formed characters, so the conflict can feel more like a setup than a lived-in reality. If you need sharp characterization, nuanced social commentary, or a payoff that cleanly lands its themes, this may leave you frustrated—especially as the pacing can drag between spikes of danger and the ending doesn’t feel fully resolved. But if you’re mainly here for gritty atmosphere, escalating street-level peril, and solid performances doing the best with limited depth, it’s a serviceable, tense watch.
