The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard is the kind of rowdy, pedal-to-the-floor comedy that treats a failing car lot like a gladiator arena for ego, desperation, and big, dumb laughter—and it commits to that premise with gleeful confidence. Jeremy Piven’s Don Ready is a fast-talking hurricane, and the movie wisely surrounds him with a killer supporting bench (Ving Rhames’ deadpan heft and Kathryn Hahn’s fearless comic swing are worth the price of admission) to keep the jokes ricocheting. The vibe is loud, sleazy, and relentlessly energetic, the sort of summer-night farce that doesn’t pause to be tasteful so much as it dares you to keep up. It’s definitely not for anyone allergic to R-rated vulgarity and sexual humor, but if you’re on the fence and want a brisk, absurd, happily crude laugh-machine, this one delivers.

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard is trying to be a raunchy, high-energy ensemble comedy about sleazy sales culture, with Jeremy Piven riffing at full volume and a “save the dealership in one weekend” setup that should, in theory, be easy fun. The problem is it leans so hard on vulgarity, mean-spirited gags, and shock humor that the characters rarely feel like people you want to spend time with, and the movie’s half-hearted attempt at a heartfelt arc doesn’t really earn the shift. There are a few decent one-liners and the cast can occasionally muscle a laugh out of thin material, but the tone is more nasty than clever. If you don’t enjoy R-rated comedies that treat offensiveness as the main punchline, this will feel like a long test of patience rather than a good time.
