Grégory Gadebois brings bruised pride and decency to Manceron, while Isabelle Carré gives Louise a spark of mystery and steel that keeps the story buoyant even when it brushes up against aristocratic cruelty. If you want action or sharp-edged satire, this may feel too gentle, but if you’re in the mood for charm, beauty, and a satisfying uplift, it’s a delightful meal of a movie.
