December 30, 1941. Vyazma ('Vyazemsky cauldron') is a small detachment of Soviet soldiers, by fatal coincidence, in an unequal battle with a special unit of the Wehrmacht. However, none of them think about giving up. Each of them was ready to sacrifice his life in order to protect his native land. None of these brave people was born a hero. The myth of the red ghost is a heroic deed without a soldier's Soviet soldier in the Great Patriotic War who instilled in the animals, deadly fear of German soldiers. In place of one of the dead hero was inserted another, and the born myth of the invincible Soviet soldier. The film 'Red Ghost' is about the hope that each soldier will have.

Explained

What people think about Red Ghost

Red Ghost makes war feel immediate again—not as a page in a history book, but as a cold, breathless fight for survival where courage is messy, frightened, and still astonishing. Andrey Bogatyrev frames the Vyazma encirclement like a grim folk tale in motion, mixing mud-and-blood realism with the electric charge of a battlefield legend as a small Soviet detachment faces a terrifyingly capable Wehrmacht unit. The performances, especially Aleksei Shevchenkov’s near-mythic presence and the human weariness around him, give the film its heartbeat: not propaganda, but the stubborn, contagious idea that hope can be a weapon. It’s brutally violent and includes some disturbing material, so it’s not for the faint of heart, but if you can handle an unflinching WWII drama with a pulsing, almost supernatural edge, this one earns its title.
