Exploited (2022)

Exploited is the kind of modern thriller that feels ripped from the glow of a laptop screen—slick, sweaty, and uncomfortably intimate in the best way, turning voyeurism and curiosity into a propulsive mystery. It’s boldly, explicitly queer and refreshingly pro-sex, with a darkly fun, messy energy that gives the characters real heat and real consequences as obsession spills into romance and paranoia. The movie moves like a late-night spiral: one more file, one more clue, one more bad decision, until the whole thing becomes a wild ride. It’s not for the prudish or the plot-perfectionists—some swings are bigger than the budget—but if you want a sexy, fearless thriller with personality and bite, it’s hard to look away.

Exploited wants to be a slick, modern techno-thriller about voyeurism, consent, and the way obsession can turn a mystery into a trap, and the premise is genuinely grabby. The problem is it often plays like stylish pulp without the storytelling backbone: pacing lurches, plot turns can feel random, and the “message” gets muddied by choices that may read as more yucky than insightful. If you’re sensitive to sexual content used as shock fuel (including explicit webcam material) or you hate twists that feel provocative for provocation’s sake, this probably isn’t your night. On the plus side, it has a contemporary look and a few tense moments, so if you’re in the mood for a trashy, dark ride and can roll with uneven logic, you might still get some guilty entertainment out of it.
