Rushed (2021)

Rushed is the kind of thriller that earns its pulse-pounding tension the old-fashioned way: by grounding every turn in raw, recognizable grief and the terrifying clarity of a mother who refuses to be dismissed. Siobhan Fallon Hogan delivers a performance with the bruised soulfulness of great American drama—fierce, funny in flashes, and increasingly uncontainable as she chases answers through a maze of polite institutional smiles and ugly evasions. Director Vibeke Muasya keeps the vibe tight and urgent, letting the story simmer with moral outrage while still playing like a propulsive mystery you can’t shake. It’s not an easy watch, especially given its hazing subject matter, but if you want a film that hits hard, acts harder, and leaves you thinking about power, accountability, and what justice costs, this one’s worth your time.

The problem is that the story often feels more like an angry, one-note march than a layered mystery: characters can come off as thinly sketched, the “cover-up” beats are fairly predictable, and the movie leans on heightened emotion instead of genuinely tense investigation. If you want a twisty, carefully plotted crime thriller or a true horror experience, this may feel more like a low-budget drama with thriller packaging. But if you can handle heavy themes and you’re mainly here for a furious, grieving parent perspective and a cautionary tale vibe, it has enough bite to keep you watching.
