Vishnu Varadhan stages the Kargil sequences with bracing immediacy and polish, where the combat, CGI, and sharp editing pull you into the thin air and tighter nerves, while the cinematography finds beauty without romanticizing the cost. Sidharth Malhotra delivers what feels like a career-best performance, grounding Captain Vikram Batra’s charisma and courage in something approachable, and Kiara Advani brings a tender steadiness that keeps the film from becoming all gunfire and glory. It’s unabashedly patriotic and emotionally direct, so if you’re allergic to earnestness you may resist it—but if you want a war drama that thrills, hurts, and ultimately honors its subject with craft and heart, this one lands.
