Love Again (2023)

Love Again is a throwback romantic comedy with a surprisingly tender heartbeat: it takes a modern wrong-number setup and treats it not as a gimmick, but as a doorway into grief, honesty, and the awkward bravery of starting over. Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sam Heughan bring an easy, likable chemistry that keeps the film warm even when it brushes up against real sadness, and the tone stays breezy without mocking what Mira’s going through. Then there’s Céline Dion, playing herself with disarming good humor, turning the movie into a gentle mix of romance, pep talk, and pop-song therapy. If you want a grounded, sincere crowd-pleaser with a little melodrama and a lot of heart (and you’re okay with a glossy, old-fashioned rom-com rhythm), this one earns its title.

Love Again is clearly aiming for a glossy, grief-to-healing rom-com where fate, texting, and a little celebrity magic nudge two bruised people together. The problem is it leans hard on contrivances and familiar beats, so if you’re allergic to Hallmark-level coincidence or romance built on a pretty questionable premise, you’ll feel the script straining for “aww” moments instead of earning them. The humor is mild and the emotional side of grief is treated more like a setup than something the movie wants to sit with, which can make the love story feel thin. That said, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sam Heughan are likable, and Céline Dion’s self-aware presence adds a bit of charm—just don’t go in expecting anything sharper or deeper than a comfort-watch.
