Akiko Ohku directs with a gentle, observant touch, letting longing and curiosity build in glances and pauses rather than grand declarations, while Yui Aragaki brings an open-hearted sincerity that makes Yui’s first steps into independence feel intimate and real. Ryuhei Matsuda’s Takashi adds a teasing, slightly elusive vibe that keeps the film pleasantly alive, like you’re listening for footsteps in the hallway and realizing they matter. If you need big twists or high melodrama, it may feel too soft-spoken, but if you’re in the mood for a tender, city-lit coming-of-age romance, this one lingers like a favorite late-night walk home.
