If you want a meticulous, strictly factual history lesson, it may feel a bit embellished, but as an entertaining character study about ambition, marriage, and moviemaking nerve, it’s a delight.

Hitchcock wants to be a backstage look at the gamble of making Psycho while also sketching a marriage under pressure, and you can see the intent to humanize a legend rather than worship him.
