Bad Biology (2008)
Driven by biological excess, a young man and woman search for sexual fulfillment, unaware of each other's existence. Unfortunately, they eventually meet, and the bonding of these two very unusual human beings ends in an explosive and ultimately over-the-top sexual experience, resulting in a truly god awful love story....
What people think about Bad Biology
Bad Biology is the kind of midnight-movie dare that only Frank Henenlotter could pull off: a gleefully unhinged cocktail of body-horror, splatter comedy, and taboo-skewering satire that somehow feels both disgusting and oddly joyous in its commitment to going too far. It plays like a warped sex-ed cartoon drawn with a rusty scalpel—lurid, loud, and shamelessly inventive—where every scene seems determined to top the last in grotesque imagination and pitch-black punchlines. If you’ve ever wished horror-comedy still had the nerve to be truly transgressive (and practical-effects gross), this delivers with the “so-bad-it’s-rad” energy cult fans live for. It’s absolutely not for the squeamish or anyone allergic to extreme sexual content, but for the right viewer it’s a proudly tasteless, surprisingly spirited celebration of cinematic lunacy.
Bad Biology is Frank Henenlotter trying to deliver a sleazy, cartoonishly grotesque sex-horror farce that dares you to keep watching, and to be fair it commits to that mission with gusto. The problem is that the shock value and body-horror gags do most of the heavy lifting, so if you’re not already on this director’s wavelength, it can feel more exhausting than funny and more repetitive than outrageous. It also isn’t the best entry point for newcomers: the tone is aggressively niche, the “story” is basically a delivery system for gross-out set pieces, and the infamous reputation tends to oversell how wild it actually feels moment to moment. If you enjoy low-budget, tasteless midnight-movie provocation with some inventive practical effects, you’ll find a few memorable bits; if explicit sexual content or extreme bodily imagery is a hard no, save yourself the time.
