Lake Placid 2 (2007)

John Schneider anchors the chaos with a steady sheriff presence, while the film happily serves up the kind of “don’t go in there” tension and gleefully nasty attacks that monster-movie fans come for. It’s not for the squeamish or anyone hunting prestige horror, but if you want a fun, fast, unapologetically gory romp with oversized predators and a wink in its bite, it delivers.

Lake Placid 2 is clearly trying to deliver a no-brains creature-feature: bigger crocs, louder screams, and a steady drip of gory lake attacks without worrying too much about logic. The problem is the bargain-bin execution—thin, familiar plotting and TV-movie production values make the tension feel manufactured, and the effects often look more like a rough draft than something meant to scare you. If you loved the first film for its sharper tone and personality, this sequel will likely feel like a watered-down rerun with less bite.
