I Know Who Killed Me (2007)
An idyllic small town is rocked when Aubrey Fleming, a bright and promising young woman, is abducted and tortured by a sadistic serial killer. When she manages to escape, the traumatized girl who regains consciousness in the hospital insists that she is not who they think she is and that the real Aubrey Fleming is still in mortal danger.
What people think about I Know Who Killed Me
What makes I Know Who Killed Me worth a look is its sheer audacity: it’s a glossy, neon-soaked nightmare that commits to a pulpy, heightened reality when most thrillers settle for bland grit. Chris Sivertson stages the mystery like a fever dream—part slasher, part identity puzzle—letting Lindsay Lohan play the film’s split-persona hook with a surprisingly game, go-for-broke energy that’s easy to root for. The vibe is lurid and deliberately unreal, closer to a late-night, taboo pop fantasia than a grounded procedural, and that’s exactly where its campy entertainment value lives. It’s absolutely not for the squeamish—there’s serious, graphic violence and sexualized imagery—but if you’re on the fence and want a thriller that swings hard on style, atmosphere, and “did they really just do that?” confidence, this one is a fascinating ride.
I Know Who Killed Me is clearly trying to be a glossy, twist-heavy identity thriller with a nasty horror edge, using Lindsay Lohan’s dual-role gimmick to keep you guessing. The problem is the story doesn’t build suspense so much as stack shock moments and soap-opera revelations until it starts feeling incoherent and unintentionally silly rather than chilling. The violence is graphic and lingering, and the strip-club material feels more exploitative than meaningful, so if you’re sensitive to torture and body horror, this is a hard no. If you can enjoy a lurid, neon-styled mess as a midnight “what were they thinking?” watch, there are flashes of atmosphere and commitment—but don’t go in expecting a smart mystery.
