Richard Dutcher keeps the vibe lean and anxious, letting dread accumulate through unsettling behavior shifts, escalating violence, and a mystery thread that pulls you deeper without drowning you in exposition. Ving Rhames brings a grounded authority that makes the supernatural elements land harder, and the film’s best moments come from how calmly it lets ordinary relationships and routines curdle into something threatening. It’s not for viewers looking for subtle, bloodless chills—this one can be blunt and nasty—but if you want a fast, dark thriller with a demonic hook and a city-nightmare atmosphere, it’s an easy recommendation.

Evil Angel is clearly aiming for a slick urban supernatural thriller, mixing police procedural beats with demon-possession mythology and a “curse that jumps bodies” hook. The problem is the execution feels uneven: the pacing lurches between domestic melodrama and horror set pieces, the characters often behave more like plot delivery systems than real people, and the mythology gets talked about more than it’s convincingly shown.
