It’s not for the squeamish (the mortuary details are graphic), but if you like mysteries that coil tighter with each quiet conversation and leave you questioning what you’re seeing, this one is a chillingly persuasive watch.

After.Life is clearly aiming for a classy, unsettling “are we alive or not?” psychological horror, with a morbid, intimate setting and big-name actors trying to sell the dread. The problem is it often mistakes gloom for momentum: the pacing drags, the rules feel slippery, and the mystery gets murkier instead of more gripping, so the tension can fizzle rather than build. If you need tight logic, satisfying twists, or a thriller that actually thrills, this may feel like a great premise stuck in slow, foggy execution. Still, Christina Ricci brings vulnerability, Liam Neeson gives the mortician an eerie calm, and the morgue imagery is genuinely disturbing—just don’t expect the story to land with the punch it promises.
