Dennis Dugan keeps the pace brisk and the tone loud and cartoonish, so when the movie lands a joke, it’s with the easy confidence of a sketch that doesn’t overthink itself. The secret weapon is Al Pacino gamely sending up his own legend, turning what could’ve been a throwaway cameo into a stream of gloriously ridiculous energy that keeps the film buoyant. It’s not for viewers allergic to crude, potty-minded humor, but if you want a quick, chaotic Thanksgiving watch with a few sincere notes under the noise, it can be a surprisingly comforting slice of comedic mayhem.
