Yella (2007)

Yella is aiming for a chilly, modern ghost story wrapped in a realist drama about reinvention and the quiet menace of being followed into a “new life.” It does build an uneasy atmosphere and has a muted, controlled look that can be genuinely unsettling if you like tension that seeps in rather than explodes. But the pacing is deliberately slow, the emotional temperature stays low, and the film leans on a climactic twist that some will find predictable or a bit flimsy, which can make the whole journey feel like it’s straining for significance.
