Thor (2011)

Thor feels special because it treats comic-book spectacle like grand mythology—Kenneth Branagh brings a Shakespearean sweep to Asgard’s family drama, then drops that thunder into a fish-out-of-water adventure on Earth that’s genuinely fun. Chris Hemsworth sells both the godlike power and the hard-earned humility, while Tom Hiddleston’s Loki adds a sly, magnetic tension that keeps the story crackling even between the dazzling set pieces. The action is solid, the world-building is confident without being confusing, and the visuals give you that “I can’t believe this is on screen” kind of pop. If you’re allergic to heightened fantasy and earnest heroics, it may feel a bit operatic—but if you want an enjoyable blockbuster with real personality, this one delivers.
