What people think about Nitro
Nitro grabs you by the collar with a premise that’s both pulpy and strangely heartfelt: a devoted husband with a ticking clock, a promise to his child, and a past he hoped he’d buried. Alain Desrochers stages the action with a gritty, street-level urgency—engines snarling, choices tightening, and Montreal’s nightscape feeling like a character all its own—while Guillaume Lemay‑Thivierge sells Max’s desperation with enough sincerity to keep the movie grounded. The vibe is fast, tense, and emotionally charged, the kind of thriller that knows speed is exciting but stakes are what make you lean forward. If you’re looking for a prestige medical drama, this isn’t that, but if you want a lean, propulsive action ride with a beating heart under the hood, Nitro delivers.
Nitro is clearly aiming for a high-octane, morally messy thriller where a desperate husband dives back into street-racing crime to beat the clock and save his wife. The problem is the story tends to run on urgency and noise rather than convincing logic, so the plot can feel like it’s spinning its wheels and asking you to ignore a lot just to keep the chase going. If you need tight writing, believable choices, and a thriller that holds up once you think about it, this may test your patience. But if you’re mainly here for a lean Canadian action vibe, fast cars, and a pulpy “do anything for family” premise, it can still deliver a bit of rough-edged fun.
