In Bruges is the rare crime film that feels like a wickedly funny confession: two hitmen stuck in a storybook city, killing time while their consciences do the real damage. Martin McDonagh’s writing snaps with profane, quotable wit, but it’s the warmth and ache in Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson’s performances that sneak up on you, turning banter into something quietly human. The vibe is equal parts darkly comic and strangely beautiful, where postcard streets and looming churches make every laugh feel a little dangerous.
