Explained

What people think about My Mom's New Boyfriend

My Mom’s New Boyfriend is a breezy little cocktail of crime caper and romantic comedy, powered less by twists than by the sheer fun of watching a buttoned-up FBI son realize his mom has a life—and a dangerous new leading man—of her own. Meg Ryan brings a lively, self-reinvented spark, Antonio Banderas turns charm into a weapon, and Colin Hanks anchors the whole thing with anxious, relatable sincerity as the guy forced to surveil his own family. The vibe is light and flirtatious with just enough action and heist energy to keep the pace moving, the kind of movie that knows it’s here to entertain, not brood. If you’re in the mood for something playful and slightly naughty rather than a hard-edged thriller, this one goes down easy.
