What's Your Number? (2011)
Ally Darling is realizing she's a little lost in life. Her latest romance has just fizzled out, and she's just been fired from her marketing job. Then she reads an eye-opening magazine article that warns that 96 percent of women who've been with 20 or more lovers are unlikely to find a husband. Determined to turn her life around and prove the article wrong, Ally embarks on a mission to find the perfect mate from among her numerous ex-boyfriends.
What people think about What's Your Number?
What’s Your Number? is the kind of rom-com that wins you over not with grand ambitions, but with sheer likability—an easy, breezy comedy powered by Anna Faris’s impeccable timing and a surprisingly warm, spark-filled pairing with Chris Evans. It has that playful, slightly naughty vibe where the jokes land, the awkward moments feel human, and the whole thing moves with the comforting rhythm of a movie that knows you came to have fun. Beneath the glossy setup, it’s really a charming little story about hitting a life wall and laughing your way back to clarity, with enough heart to keep it from feeling disposable. If you want a sharp-edged reinvention of the genre, look elsewhere, but if you’re in the mood for an entertaining guilty pleasure that goes down easy, this one delivers.
What’s Your Number? is clearly aiming for a cheeky, sex-positive rom-com about a woman hitting reset and realizing her “number” shouldn’t define her, and that’s a perfectly workable premise. The problem is it plays out in the safest, most formulaic way possible, with a contrived scavenger-hunt plot and jokes that often feel forced rather than genuinely funny. If you’re tired of predictable beats, thin character development, and a script that wastes a solid cast on generic banter, this will likely test your patience. That said, if you just want a light, glossy comfort-watch with a few charming moments and you don’t mind seeing the destination from the first ten minutes, it can still do the job.
