Explained

What people think about Stuck

Stuck takes an absurd, tabloid-ready premise and, under Stuart Gordon’s steady hand, turns it into a nasty little pressure cooker that’s equal parts thriller and pitch-black comedy. The movie’s special trick is how it keeps tightening the screws without losing its wicked sense of humor, letting suspense and moral panic feed off each other until you can’t look away. Stephen Rea brings bruised humanity and grit, while Mena Suvari makes denial and self-preservation feel frighteningly plausible, and the script smartly traps everyone in consequences that escalate by the minute. Fair warning: it’s grimy, gory, and unapologetically mean-spirited at times, but if you can handle the R-rated nastiness, it’s a sharp, tense ride that earns its shocks.
