Saw III is trying to deepen the franchise by giving Jigsaw and Amanda more emotional weight while putting its victims through “moral tests” that are meant to feel like twisted therapy. The problem is it often mistakes louder, nastier gore for escalating stakes, and the story leans hard on flashbacks and explanations that can bog down the momentum instead of building dread. If you’re here for suspense, clever cat-and-mouse tension, or a fresh concept, this one may feel like a grim endurance test rather than a thriller. That said, Tobin Bell remains the series’ best asset, and if you primarily want elaborate traps, bleak atmosphere, and soap-operatic escalation, it delivers exactly that.
