What people think about Air Buddies
Air Buddies is the kind of family movie that knows exactly what it wants to be: a bright, breezy adventure powered by five puppy personalities, broad slapstick, and a warm-hearted belief that courage can come in very small packages. The fun is in the vibe—talking-dog antics, mischievous teamwork, and a road-trip spirit that keeps the pace lively without ever turning mean-spirited, with voice work that gives each pup a distinct spark. It’s comfort viewing with a goofy streak, the sort of film that plays best with kids on the couch and adults half-smiling at how sincerely it commits to its own sweetness. If you’re allergic to cutesy animal comedy or can’t abide obvious family-movie contrivances, it may not convert you—but if you’re on the fence and want something easy, upbeat, and earnest, this one lands like a friendly paw on your shoulder.
Air Buddies is clearly aiming for a cute, kid-friendly adventure that trades on talking puppies, slapstick peril, and a simple “family sticks together” message. The problem is it’s very much a noisy, made-for-kids sequel machine: broad voices, cartoony villains, and a plot that lurches from one contrived chase to the next without much charm for adults or older kids. If you’re sensitive to animals-in-danger scenarios (even in a sanitized, comedic way) or you want the grounded sports-heart of the original Air Bud, this one may feel like a long commercial for puppy antics. That said, very young viewers who just want nonstop cute dogs, easy jokes, and a tidy happy ending will probably be perfectly content.
