Benny Chan keeps the city humming with menace and momentum, threading together a cop, a lawyer, and a hitman in a tense moral triangle where every glance feels like a clue and every encounter tightens the noose. Aaron Kwok brings a haunted intensity, Ekin Cheng adds a cool, conflicted steadiness, and Daniel Wu gives the assassin an unsettling calm that makes the danger feel close and personal. The violence is sharp and occasionally brutal (it is R-rated), so it’s not for viewers seeking a breezy ride, but if you want a slick, shadowy thriller with real stakes and escalating suspense, this one delivers.

The problem is it plays like it’s constantly skipping chapters: motivations blur, the plotting gets tangled fast, and by the time it reaches the finish line the ending can feel more awkward than satisfying. The action and violence are there (including some nasty close-quarters stuff), but it’s not staged with the clarity or punch you’d expect from an “action-thriller,” so don’t come in hoping for clean set pieces. If you’re patient with moody, messy storytelling and you’re mainly here for the cast’s brooding intensity, you might find something to like; if you need coherence, strong character arcs, and a payoff that lands, this probably isn’t your night.
