Directed by Bob Odenkirk, it has that deadpan, mean-sweet satirical bite—skewering privilege, bureaucracy, and the weird social ecosystem of prison—while still leaving room for big, ridiculous set pieces and perfectly timed character turns. Dax Shepard plays the revenge-obsessed schemer with scrappy energy, Will Arnett is hilariously insufferable as the pampered target, and Chi McBride brings a steady, scene-stealing presence that keeps the chaos grounded. It’s not for anyone who wants subtle, warmhearted comedy, but if you enjoy dark, off-kilter laughs and watching arrogant people get thoroughly rattled, this one goes down easy.
