Ashutosh Gowariker frames a political marriage not as a fairy tale, but as a slow, absorbing dance of pride, faith, and mutual respect, carried by the magnetic chemistry between Hrithik Roshan’s quietly searching Akbar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s resolute, radiant Jodhaa. The music doesn’t interrupt the drama so much as deepen it, turning longing and dignity into something you can almost hear in the air. It’s a long, lavish film that asks you to sink into its pace, but if you’re open to romance with brains, beauty, and a surprisingly civil heart, it’s richly rewarding.

The catch is the runtime: it’s long, often leisurely, and the editing and narration can make major stretches feel like you’re waiting for the story to catch up to its own importance. If you need tight pacing, sharper action, or more modern, surprising filmmaking, this may feel conventional and a bit padded. But if you’re happy to sink into lavish sets, big emotions, and two charismatic leads playing a slow-burn relationship with dignity rather than edge, it can be an enjoyable, comfortingly epic watch.
