Fair warning: the material is brutal and includes disturbing violence and sexual assault references, so it’s not for everyone—but if you can stomach it, it’s an uncompromising film that treats its darkness with unsettling seriousness.

Seven Days is clearly aiming to be a raw, morally thorny revenge drama about a grieving father testing the limits of justice, and it doesn’t pretend to be “fun” for a second. The problem is that it often swaps suspense and psychological escalation for prolonged suffering, so if you’re hoping for a tight cat-and-mouse thriller, it can feel punishingly grim rather than gripping.
