Another Gay Movie (2006)

Another Gay Movie takes the well-worn teen sex comedy template and joyfully flips it into something both raunchier and oddly more heartfelt, like a midnight movie that still remembers what it felt like to be young, terrified, and desperate to belong. Todd Stephens leans into outrageous parody—big, scandalous set pieces and gleefully filthy jokes—yet keeps an affectionate eye on the friendships at the center, so the comedy lands with a wink instead of a sneer. Michael Carbonaro, Jonah Blechman, and Jonathan Chase play the chaos with just enough sincerity that the movie’s sweetness sneaks up on you between the gags, turning a summer of misadventures into a surprisingly warm coming-of-age ride. It’s absolutely not for the easily offended or anyone allergic to broad, explicit humor, but if you want a loud, unapologetic, queer spin on the genre that still has a pulse and a heart, it’s hard to resist.

Another Gay Movie is aiming to be the gay teen-sex-comedy answer to the early-2000s parody wave, swapping straight clichés for queer ones and cranking the dial to maximum filth. If you’re expecting clever satire or even a warm coming-of-age romance, this can feel like a nonstop barrage of shock gags and gross-out set pieces that quickly turns repetitive. The acting and direction have a scrappy, amateur vibe, and the writing often chooses “louder” over “sharper,” which can flatten any emotional payoff. That said, if you have a high tolerance for crude, intentionally trashy humor and just want a campy, taboo-pushing time capsule, it might deliver exactly that.
