Glenn Jacobs brings a genuinely imposing physical presence to Jacob Goodnight—less a character you “understand” than a force you try to survive—and the film leans into visceral, practical-feeling brutality with the confidence of a midnight-movie crowd-pleaser. If you’re squeamish or looking for psychological subtlety, this isn’t your stop, but if you want unapologetic, hard-R gore with a simple, nasty momentum, it delivers exactly what it promises.

The problem is it plays like a checklist of familiar genre beats, so you can often predict who’s next and exactly how scenes will land, which drains tension instead of building it. If you’re hoping for clever plotting, memorable characters, or genuine scares, this will likely feel loud, nasty, and oddly forgettable. But if all you want is mean-spirited, gory kills in a decaying-hotel atmosphere and you’re fine with “seen it before” storytelling, it does deliver that blunt, brutal lane.
