Goyer keeps the vibe moody and wintry, letting the fantasy hook serve an emotional, character-driven mystery that sneaks up on you, especially as Margarita Levieva’s troubled Annie becomes more than a villain and Justin Chatwin’s Nick becomes more than a victim. It’s crafted with a steady pulse—tense when it needs to be, but most compelling in the quiet, introspective stretches where guilt and hope feel like life-or-death forces. If you want nonstop shocks, it may feel too reflective, but if you like thrillers with a bruised heart and a lingering aftertaste, this one’s worth stepping into.

The Invisible is clearly trying to mash up teen drama with a supernatural “stuck between worlds” mystery, using the limbo premise to push a guilt-and-redemption story rather than pure scares. The problem is the thriller engine never really kicks in: the pacing drifts, the rules of what’s happening can feel fuzzy, and the mystery isn’t sharp enough to sustain the tension it’s reaching for. If you’re looking for a tight, twisty, genuinely suspenseful ride, this may come off as oddly flat and occasionally unintentionally funny. That said, Margarita Levieva brings some bruised humanity to the attacker role, and if you’re in the mood for a moody, mid-2000s supernatural melodrama with a softer emotional focus, you might get something out of it.
