House of Fury (2005)
Teddy Yu is a former secret agent turned chiropractor who thought he left his past behind. He teaches martial arts to his two kids. However, his past catches up to him as a rogue agent demands to know the whereabouts of an agent known as Dragon. Now, father and children must team up to stop the rogue agent and his goons.
What people think about House of Fury
House of Fury is the kind of crowd-pleaser that reminds you why Hong Kong action-comedy can feel like pure cinematic caffeine: nimble, inventive, and constantly in motion. It wraps crisp, beautifully choreographed fights in a playful family vibe, letting the humor land without undercutting the sheer physical skill on display. The performances sell the warmth as much as the punches, so even when it’s being delightfully ridiculous, it still feels grounded in a father-and-kids bond you can root for. If you’re allergic to broad comedy or want gritty realism, it may not be your flavor—but if you’re on the fence and craving an easy, high-energy popcorn movie, this one delivers exactly what it promises.
House of Fury is clearly aiming for breezy, family-friendly kung fu fun, mixing a sitcom-style dad-and-kids dynamic with light espionage stakes. The problem is the story often feels like it’s making things up as it goes, with pacing that lurches between energetic fights and stretches of talk that don’t land. The villain in particular drags the movie down with weak dialogue and a performance that can feel more exhausting than threatening, which makes the whole thing come off cheesier than charming. If you’re here for polished action-comedy or a plot that holds together, this will test your patience; if you can enjoy goofy setups and occasional martial-arts spark without thinking too hard, it’s passable background fun.
